Felty Vessels and a Rosie Bag

In the hope of an early spring, we decided to make something bright and cheerful for the lounge - it's either a decorative object or a spring vase cover...whichever you fancy!

Here's the 'recipe' if you're interested...

Start with some delicious shades of merino top and merino yarn.....

....baste them onto a template with soapy water...

...and repeat four times on each side or until you get the consistency you require.....

...gut it....

....knead it until 'cooked'......

....and rest it until dry and ready to eat with your eyes!

We also made a bag from some our pretty green handmade felt that we free machine embroidered with red roses.  Here's a couple of pics so you can see...

Felt Sunset Bag

A couple of months ago we made a big piece of felt in sunset colours which we planned to make into a bag.  Inspiration struck last week and from the flat piece of felt we made this....

If you're interested in how it was made, here's a quick summary...

We did some free machine embroidery on the felt in lots of different colours to give it extra texture before cutting out the shape we required (basically a big rectangle!)

To make the main body of the bag we folded the rectangle in half, sewed the side seams, and then sewed diagonally across the bottom corners to give the "box" shape.

Made the lining out of yellow ribbed fabric in the same way but slightly smaller so it would fit inside the outer bag.

The handles are bamboo rings covered by hand crocheting boucle yarn into the rings (its quite labour intensive - each one took half an hour - but we think it was worth it!)
