There are many 'fancy yarns' that don't look very interesting when rolled in a ball but if you open up the strands sometimes there's a promise of possibility. The yarn pictured above is mohair - perfect for using in wet felting - and it made lovely 'flowers' in the wet felted picture shown below.
The picture is 20cm square (8") in a 30cm (12") white frame. The background of green, blue and white merino wool layers was covered in a jumble of yellow mohair fancy yarn, nepps, straight wool yarn, scraps of other fancy yarns and curls.
If you are pushed for time, small projects are fun and they can be very quick to make by using scraps from past projects. The card topper below was made by cutting shapes from scrap handmade felt stitched to a scrap of glitter card. The glitter card was then easily attached with double sided tape to a white card blank.
We wish you happy hunting for unusual yarns that can be used in your felted projects :)
